Edward Brander
BSc MSST PGCHE FHEA

I qualified as a graduate sports therapist in 2006 having gained a BSc (hons) Sports Therapy from London Metropolitan University. I have been a full member of the Society of Sports Therapists since then.
After qualifying I worked in tier 5/6 rugby union and private practice in South London alongside lecturing part time at London Metropolitan University and University of Kent. In 2010 I accepted a full time lecturing post at University of Gloucestershire, teaching on their BSc (hons) and MSc Sports Therapy programmes. My time there included a 3 year tenure as Course Leader on the bachelors degree and eventually becoming a Senior Lecturer.

In 2017 I decided to leave academia to return to practice as a Sports Therapist. I worked in a busy clinic in Cheltenham, treating patients from office workers to GB paralymic athletes to octagenarian tennis players, before setting up my own practice, 1st Sports Therapy.
Also in 2017, I joined Luctonians RFC as the Club Sports Therapist, working with seniors men's (and sometimes youth and ladies) players on training nights. I can be found pitchside most Saturdays with the 1XV providing sports trauma cover for their matches in National 2 North.
Alongside practice as a sports therapist I am an Associate Lecturer at Uinversity of Worcester, teaching part time on their BSc (hons) Sports Therapy programme, and am an external examiner at Plymouth Marjon university for their Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation degrees.
